YOU DID IT!!! All of the needed funds have been raised for the auction this weekend. You are all completely incredibly generous, we could not do it without you! Thank you again so much! Now we cannot wait to go to the auction and save lives.

The month of January was a good month. The babies that were all sick from the auction are all finally out of quarantine and doing great. The sickness was thankfully not spread to any other horses at the shelter.

Our trainer was very busy evaluating, training and riding the horses to make them more adoptable. This horse is named Misty. She rides good, but is still green.

He has also been very busy continuing to halter train the babies. Jaclyn is doing very well and we would like to thank all of you who donated to make her hernia surgery possible.

Prissy and her “baby” Santiago the llama still enjoy frolicking around the shelter. Little did Santiago know his life was going to be changed forever.

The vet was out and he got his gelding operation. Prissy looked very concerned at her “baby” as he lay there for his surgery. Poor Prissy was so worried it was as if she was saying “You keep those needles and that big knife away from my baby or I’ll….”

The gelding operation went fine and then Santiago got his feet done too.

Dusty the donkey and Spider (below) were also on the gelding agenda. Both of their operations went quite well too.

Horses also received their dental work. Here Cleo is being a good girl.

We had some adoptions too. Dancer, Mister and Jack were adopted into a very loving home.

Many animals were surrendered, these are two very adorable goats: a mommy and son. This is Heidi and her son, Eclipse. They are sweet and friendly Alpine goats. Heidi is about 6 years old, she is small for an Alpine, and she does have horns but she is very respectful with them. She is said to be good with dogs. Her son Eclipse is much bigger, he has been castrated and de-horned. He is 4 years old. He is said to be fearful of dogs. Both are now current on vaccinations and wormings. These two are very bonded and go everywhere together. We would like to see them go to a new home together.

We had lots of visitors at the shelter, we are always grateful when folks come out to see the animals that need homes.

Yesterday, the 29th, a transporter pulled up with a horse inside the trailer.

When the door opened, La Paz stepped out, a 16.3 hand tall registered Hanoverian gelding who was born in 1996.

Here is some information about La Paz from a couple For Sale ads in 2010.
“La Paz 1996 imported Hanoverian Gelding by Landor S. Showing 4th Level. 16.3 h. Incredible temperament and work ethic. Located in No. California. $38,000.”
“Safe, Sane & Sweet. Shown 3rd level by an amateur. La Paz has received top placings and scores, including 70% from Hilda Gurney at 2nd level. He has excellent gaits for which he typically receives scores of 7s and 8s, with a powerful canter emblematic of his lineage. He has great lateral work frequently receiving 7’s and 8’s. He is relaxed and confident in the show arena with eye-catching presence and poise. Easy to sit and comfortable to ride. La Paz has an incredible temperament He comes out of the barn every day ready to go and happy to work. He is a consummate gentleman with a sweet, loving temperament. La Paz is a 3/4 sibling to the approved Hanoverian stallion and Nations Cup competitor, Laurion and Landdame, the internationally successful showjumper purchased at the Verden Auction by Franke Sloothaak. La Pazs dam line is the origin of many successful performance horses and stallions, most notably the 2008 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year, De Niro. La Paz has been in professional training his entire career. Must go to a permanent home. “
La Paz is an absolutely stunning horse and we hope that he will find his forever home soon.

We put a video together about La Paz, you really must watch it! To see the video, click the picture below or click here.
If you are interested in adopting La Paz we recommend putting an adoption hold on him. His adoption fee is $400 to the right forever home. He has some stiffness that prevented him from continuing at high level dressage. His owner surrendered him so we could find him a home with a better match. If you are interested in adopting him, please consider placing a hold on him: click here.

As the sun set at the shelter Steve our trainer was busy making sure all of the horses were fed, watered and happy. What a great job Steve does with all of the animals at the shelter!

Thank you all so much for your support, and especially thank you for your generous donations to the auction fund.
