We Did It!

The protest went great, 3 TV stations covered the event, 1 newspaper, and Roseville Livestock Auction owners were apologetic and have allowed us to continue purchasing horses from an unknown future at their auction. Today we rescued two wonderful horses, more updates will come after our staff gets some sleep. Some of the protesters. Jason being interviewed […]

Snowdrift Visits the Vet

Today we awoke to find Snowdrift gagging and barely able to breathe. We hooked the trailer up in record time and rushed her to Look Ahead Vet. The vet told us that she was choking on something, so we gave them the go ahead for the expensive, extensive surgery. The bill will be between $700 […]

The Fence is Up!

It was very stormy today and pouring rain, but Jason faithfully worked away on the fence. All his hard work has made a wonderful play land for the horses. Some of the horses have been turned out into the pasture and we got the camera to get the first happy pictures of the horses grazing […]

Power Up Norcal!

PG&E finally got the power ran out to the our ranch, so we can now quit watering the horses using a generator. The neighbour was nice enough to allow us to run a very long extension cord over for the computers, but we had to use the generator to water. We moved out to the […]

Campeon is back.

Jason had to drive to Redding to pick up Campeon, a young Paso Fino that had been adopted by a sweet person. Unfortunately her horse did not get along with Campeon, and as they were continually fighting they chose to donate Campeon back to us so we can find him a new loving home.

Hay Day

We had to take the strangles feedlot horses out to the feedlot transition pasture with the other sick horses, but they didn’t want to be caught. It took us quite some time to get the paint and the baby caught and loaded up, but once they were Jason headed out. Since it is close to […]

A Record Breaking Day!

Today broke all records, we had 7 adoptions today! Claire has been working hard on adoption applications and and has approved a lot of homes so we had adoptions lined up for today. Claire and Ron had been fostering Yuma and we found the perfect home for her, so they brought her back to NER for […]

Friday

We had raised the funds to bring Nevada, Patriot’s Magic, Eva, Besie, along with Otto and Bugies from previous rescues to NER. Patriot’s Magic and Otto arrived with strangles and they all needed to be moved to the back of our ranch so that our other horses do not come in contact with the sick […]

The Feedlot Horses

The feedlot horses in our transitional pasture have all contracted strangels somehow. This is very sad news as we have had strangles sweep through our herd before, and while it is not a deadly disease, it is very nasty and contagious. Hopefully they all recover very quickly and can find the right homes! The current […]

Adoptions and more…

Today was as busy as normal. Tawnee worked on the computer, reformatting the “Saved” page on the feedlot horses web site and posting the new rescue of 12 slaughter bound horses. Jason continues to work on the fence, someday it will get done. He pounded lots of posts into the ground and will be very […]
