Hello Everyone, I’m in Pennsylvania doing the 1-Day Open Door shelter, and the New Holland horse auction, one of the largest horse sales in the United States, is only 15 miles from here. We have the opportunity to rescue horses from this infamous auction, but we need your help! Every horse in the kill buyer price range will be shipped to slaughter. We wish we could save them all, but we can save the ones that are most critical, give them love and kindness, and the veterinarian relieve their suffering as we say goodbye to horses we may only know for a short time. No horse deserves to suffer, and we have the opportunity to relieve a lot of suffering and keep horses from being shipped out of country for slaughter.
I’m relying completely on volunteers to help move the horses once they are rescued, and I cannot rescue adoptable horses as all of our adoption partners are filled up from the 1-Day Shelter. I will rescue every horse I can in the slaughter price range. We are in major Amish country, and the Amish here seem to have little to no regard for their horse’s welfare. We know many Amish horses will be dumped at this auction. They have given everything to serve their owners, until their bodies can no longer handle the workload, and they are dumped.
