As you can imagine we have been very busy with the new group of horses at our shelter. We are working hard on getting adoption applications done as quickly as possible. We would like to thank everyone who has stepped forward to give one of these youngsters a home. Kirsty has been hard at work training the youngsters to lead and that humans are OK. When she has them where they are beginning to lead, she does group leading lessons, that way she can teach twice as many horses in the same amount of time. What a trainer!
We suspected that the the pony that came with the group, with a young baby at her side who is almost as big as her, was halter trained because she had old halter scars on her face. Kirsty worked at winning her trust, and before long she had a halter on and was leading her around.
We have another pony mare who was going to be transferred to Trinity Horse Refuge along with the pair from Nevada. It was funny when they were introduced to see the size difference between the two babies. The one on the right is a 4-5 month old pony, and the one on the left is only about a month old, half horse half pony. His mom (above) is very fortunate that she was able to give birth with him as he was such a large baby for her size, he is already almost as large as she is.
Daisy the pig’s old mom came out to see how her precious baby is doing. Daisy came right up to her to get loved on, she definitely remembered her old mom.
Daisy is doing quite well on her exercise and diet program, and her tummy is no longer dragging the ground. Yay for Daisy!

We had a few horses surrendered at the shelter while the shelter team was busy rescuing the Nevada group. This is a pretty older mare who is trained to ride.
This is a 3 year old gelding who is very calm and greenbroke.
Gitter, not pictured, was adopted and Ozzy was placed in adoption pending. We are so excited for them!
Monday Jason and Tawnee hit the road to go rescue some horses.
These horses were abandoned on a foreclosed property, and they needed some help. They both have medical problems and one could barely walk as she hobbled around. It’s very sad and so heartless to leave horses behind.
Across the fence on the neighbor’s property, the owner of the foreclosed property moved one of his horses that he wanted to keep. Obviously this horse is in desperate need, and we are working diligently to bring this horse to safety. We were heartbroken that we had to leave her behind. We sadly had no legal grounds to take her.
In no time at all the other 2 horses were at the shelter, enjoying nice yummy hay. Probably for the first time in a long time.
