We need your help to save slaughter bound horses in Tennessee, the auction is in just a few days. This month’s auction rescue is in TN, our Tennessee shelter is planning an auction rescue to save horses from being purchased by kill buyers and shipped to slaughter. Shipping horses to slaughter is legal in TN, and every auction has multiple kill buyers bidding on every horse that slips into their price range. There are huge trailers and semi trucks waiting to load up the unfortunate horses who were not rescued. It is so heart wrenching to watch the big trucks and trailers load up horses after auctions, knowing we couldn’t save them all crushes our hearts, but we are so thankful that we are able to save some of them.
With your help, we can save horses from that horrible fate. Kill buyers are paying up to $450 for average size horses, and in order to rescue horses, we must outbid them. We desperately need your financial help to pull precious horses out of the slaughter pipeline. We can only do it with your help, won’t you be a horse’s hero?
With your support, we purchase every horse we can in the killer buyer price range, based on weight, saving it from making the horrible trip to Mexico or Canada for slaughter. Not every horse we rescue is able to be rehabilitated, but we are thankful we can give them the Last Act of Kindness if needed, and keep them from enduring the brutality of the long trip that ends with violent butchering. Each horse that we rescue is evaluated by our vet and staff, given the medical care that they need, and given the best possible opportunity to find a forever home with an adoptive family. Our trainers work with the horses to correct negative behaviors and give training to those that are untrained. When the horses are ready our adoption team works hard to find the rescued horses loving, forever homes.
