Today was a very exciting day for everyone. The crew arrived this morning to finish the barn we talked about previously. We have decided to call it the Vet Barn as it is the barn where most of the veterinarian work will be done. Our padded hydraulic squeeze chute is already in one area of the barn. The crew was here by the time the sun rose and got right to work. They were very fast in putting in all of the posts for the barn.
The trusses were up and then it was time to get the roof on.
While the crew was building the vet barn, Kristen was able to work with Rodie. Rodie came to us through the TROT program and we are very happy that she is here. She is a sweet girl and we can’t wait to see what her future holds.
The round pen is a little small for a big Thoroughbred so Kristen took her out to the arena. Our arena is finally starting to dry out and we are very happy that we can start using it again. Rodie seemed to be liking it as she can move around more freely.
After a good workout it was time for a bath. Rodie loved it! She is a really beautiful horse and we know we will find her a great home in no time. If you are interested in adopting her please email: info@horsehumane.org.
Back at the vet barn all of the framing was done and they started getting the metal on. It was looking so great!
The vet barn is so beautiful! It’s amazing how fast the crew got it done. We can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work. It looks amazing! There is still a lot of work that needs to be done inside the barn, concrete, stalls, a loft, but it’s great to have it weatherproof and a great place to do vet work when the weather is inclement. This barn was made possible by a small estate one of our supporters left us. There wasn’t enough funds to finish the inside of the barn, but we know with time we will be able to finish it.
Today we announced on our Facebook page that we are going to be holding the next 1-Day Open Door Shelter in Kentucky. Tawnee spent a lot of the day getting more details lined up for the event. For more information, click here.
At the end of the day a very adorable 7 day old baby donkey was surrendered. He is absolutely so cute and we will tell you all about him in the next blog.
