horse rescue

52 animals saved in 40 hours on only 5 hours of sleep!

We are so proud of our amazing rescue team who are so dedicated to helping animals in need.  In 40 hours our rescue team has only had 5 hours of sleep and has rescued 52 animals.  As you know we just rescued 36 horses from auction Tuesday night. We got them back to our shelter Wednesday afternoon and began the intake process.  When our veterinarian was in the middle of examining the horse with the ruptured eyeball Tawnee got a call from the state veterinarian.  The state vet was on the scene of a cruelty case where they were seizing around 30 dogs and other animals that were being abused and neglected.  Animal Control was on scene with the Sheriff Department seizing all the small animals. The state vet told Tawnee law enforcement had gotten called out to the property on a complaint and found the animals living in deplorable conditions. She said that there were a group of mini horses, a donkey, and a mule that were up to weight but their living conditions was completely unacceptable, they had no food or water.  Their pen was unsafe and littered with garbage. There was also a potbelly pig, ducks and some chickens.

We would like to thank everyone who donated to make the auction rescue possible!  Donations for the seized animals is greatly appreciated, they came in with no financial support.  You can watch our very busy day on this video link: https://www.facebook.com/horsehumane/posts/2606574122733709
