This Tuesday we will be going to an auction to rescue as many horses out of the slaughter pipeline as we can. The day before the auction is our founder Tawnee’s birthday and her birthday wish is that we can save a lot of horses from auctions. We need your help so we can outbid the kill buyers. Horses purchased by kill buyers spend days with no food and water in large semi-trucks crammed together on their way to be exported out of the United States to be brutally killed for human consumption. Slaughter prices are extremely high right now, in some states it is over $0.80 a pound. When the rescued horses come to our shelter they receive immediate medical care, are evaluated by our intake team and veterinarian, and are given everything they need. Just the initial rescue and intake cost ranges from $1,000 to $1,500 per horse we rescue from auction. We rescue horses at auctions regardless of their condition even if they need the Last Act of Kindness because no horse deserves to endure the horrors of a slaughterhouse.
