I want to say a huge thank you to each and every person who has donated to help us rescue, shelter, and protect horses this month. My birthday fundraiser was a huge success with over $10,000 being raised to help horses in need. On average it costs $1,000 to $1,500 to rescue a horse from auction, saving it from the slaughter pipeline, transport the horse to our shelter, giving the horse vet care, quarantine, and sheltering until we can find the horse a loving home. There are some horses that we rescue that need the Last Act of Kindness to relieve their chronic suffering. We rescue horses regardless of their condition because no horse deserves the horrors of being killed in a slaughterhouse. Every horse deserves love and compassion and that’s what they get when they come to Horse Plus Humane Society. Usually, there are approximately 100 horses that are sold to the highest bidder at this auction we will be going to tomorrow. I will be sending out an email once we are at the auction and posting on our Facebook page as we can with updated information and pictures. It is only because of people just like you, the true Horse Heroes out there, that we are able to rescue these precious lives and give them a second chance. If we did not have Horse Heroes out there like yourself none of our work would be possible. Thank you for your support that allows us to rescue, shelter, and protect horses.
