YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

Since those humble beginnings, we have Rescued, Sheltered and Protected over 15,000 precious animals.

We are dedicated to giving horses and other animals a second chance at life. Our mission is to provide the Rescue, Shelter, and Protection they deserve, shielding them from harm, neglect, and unthinkable conditions. We believe every animal deserves love, care, and a safe haven. Join us in making a difference this Giving Tuesday!

Our Story

Horse Plus Humane Society was founded back in 2003, when our Co-Founders, Tawnee and Jason Preisner took the exciting leap to start this organization. They quickly realized just how deep the need for animal rescue was.

They invested their time and energy, working tirelessly to save horses from dire circumstances. Little did they know, their humble organization would soon flourish, becoming the largest horse welfare organization worldwide.

Why Donate To Us This Giving Tuesday?

Your generous contribution in this season of giving empowers us to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome as many as possible, giving them a second chance at life.

How much does it cost to rescue a horse?
The initial cost involved with rescuing a horse is about $1000. This covers the initial intake, medical treatments and quarantine. It's a rewarding experience and you can be part of it through your support.
What is the monthly medical & farrier bill?
As the only horse shelter in the U.S with 2 full-time veterinarians, we're committed to the well-being of our rescued animals. These horses often require significant medical and farrier care due to past neglect. 95% of our incoming horses benefit from this critical attention. Our monthly investment in their healthcare and farrier work averages around $20,000, illustrating our dedication to their recovery and health.
How much is the shelter's monthly feed bill?
The monthly feed expense hovers around $5000, varying with the number of animals sheltered. Most horses arrive undernourished and require a specialized refeeding protocol, making your support all the more crucial.Sample Headline
