Hay Day Happiness
Every week, 14 giant round bales roll into the shelter, and our hay supplier knows the drill well. The horses plow through it fast, especially the large rescue groups but we’re incredibly grateful to have a dependable partner who keeps everyone fed and comfortable!
Vet Visits and Tender Care
Among today’s patients was Cotton, who developed an abscess from what appears to be a puncture wound to her shoulder and flank. She’s in good hands with our vet team, getting the treatment she needs to heal comfortably!
Apolo, another recent rescue, is bright and sweet but showing a bit of heat in his shoulder. He’ll also continue receiving close monitoring and care. These moments of careful, everyday care are made possible because of supporters like you.
Auction Rescues Enjoying Breakfast Bliss
Our last auction rescue group is now spending their mornings peacefully grazing in the pasture. Seeing them relaxed, happy, and healing from their past hardships is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
Kindness That Truly Keeps Us Going
This week brought a beautiful reminder of just how much love surrounds our mission. A handwritten card arrived all the way from Australia, sent by a supporter who shared how our YouTube videos brighten her days from across the globe. Her words touched our hearts deeply—and yes, your card did make it, and it made our whole week.
On the very same day, UPS delivered boxes filled with donated supplies including fly spray, tick repellent, triage kits, skin care solutions, and more. Every item was something our rescued horses will use as they heal and begin their new journeys.
From heartfelt messages sent across oceans to essential supplies shipped to our doorstep, your generosity fuels everything we do. We appreciate you more than words can say!
Celebrating Big Improvements and Beautiful New Beginnings
We had two huge reasons to smile this week. First—after three years of waiting, our office finally has a real septic system being installed. It may not be glamorous, but saying goodbye to the porta-potty is a major quality-of-life upgrade for our hard-working team, and we’re celebrating every bit of it.
Even better, a sweet mare headed off to her forever home, complete with her microchip information and medical records. Seeing a horse step into a safe, loving future is what rescue is all about—a new start, a second chance, and a life saved.
Both moments, in their own way, remind us why we keep doing what we do.
Standing Strong for Our Mission—and the Horses We Serve
We want to share an important update. Recently, our team has faced an increase in harassment and threatening messages from individuals who strongly oppose humane euthanasia, even when it is the most compassionate option for a suffering horse.
We want to be completely transparent:
We never take euthanasia lightly.
But when a horse is in unrelievable pain, or when their quality of life is beyond repair, giving them a peaceful and compassionate goodbye is an act of mercy—not cruelty.
Meanwhile, hundreds of horses every week are exported to slaughter in Mexico. That is what we are fighting to stop.
To protect our staff and to ensure that donor funds go directly toward saving lives rather than unnecessary bidding conflicts, we will no longer announce auction dates in advance. We will continue rescuing horses, just in a safer and more strategic way.
