Fencing Fun and Long-Awaited Upgrades
This week was extra special as long-awaited fencing panels finally arrived. Funded by a May birthday fundraiser, these panels are replacing old, worn-out fencing that has been holding up for years.
Just in time for another birthday celebration, the team rolled up their sleeves and got to work, creating a safer and stronger space for all our beloved horses.
Special Deliveries and Heartfelt Rescues
The week also brought a special delivery of 56 square bales of hay, keeping our horses happy and healthy.
In addition, the team rescued a few more equine friends from a family facing hard times. After a safe hour-and-a-half drive, a small stallion and a little donkey joined the shelter’s growing family, ready for the care and love they deserve.
Welcoming New and Recovering Residents
Shelter residents got extra attention this week.
Aphrodite, a 12-year-old horse learning to trust humans again, is making steady progress. A young newcomer, just under two years old, is showing incredible potential in her first days at the shelter.
These stories remind us why every effort counts, from fence repairs to gentle care and patience.
Each evaluation helps us match these amazing horses with the perfect forever home.
Staying Safe During COVID-19
Safety remains a top priority. All visits and appointments are carefully managed to protect staff, volunteers, and animals. Thoughtful precautions allow the work of rescuing and caring for horses to continue without compromise.
Shelter Improvements and Everyday Heroes
This week at Horse Plus Humane Society was full of hard work, progress, and moments to celebrate. The team tackled practical upgrades, replacing the temporary port-a-potty with proper bathroom fixtures and plumbing, making life smoother for staff and visitors.
Amidst all this hard work, there was time to celebrate. Happy birthday to Sarah, whose commitment and hard work shine every day!!
A little fun, cake, and appreciation made her day as special as the lives being changed at the shelter.
