Morning Feedings and Getting to Know the June Auction Horses

The day starts with making sure every horse gets exactly what they need. Older horses enjoy soft, soaked alfalfa while horses like Dahlia from the May auction get grain to help them gain weight.

Maizie, rescued last November, now confidently eats from a hand-held bucket, showing her growing trust and progress. Nursing mare Molasses and her foal Kane also receive extra care to stay strong and healthy.

Before quarantine ends, the team spends time sitting with newly rescued June auction horses, letting them relax and showing their personalities. These quiet moments help prepare them for successful adoptions.

Navigating Adoptions During COVID-19
Adopting out hundreds of horses each year takes careful planning. COVID-19 brought new challenges, and the team adapted with health screenings, scheduled appointments, and safety protocols. Applications are pouring in, and many horses are finding their forever homes.

Transformations and New Beginnings

Sancho, rescued last November from a slaughter-bound truck, arrived wild and unhandled but has grown into a calm and confident trail partner. He has now been adopted into a home with a trainer, showing the incredible transformations possible through rescue and care.

Apollo, a Lusitano, needed a home that understood his specialized training, and after careful review, the perfect family was found. Sadie also found a loving home, and both horses are now ready to begin their bright new futures.

Dahlia, rescued from a semi-load of over 40 frightened horses, is now halter-trained and officially headed to her adopter.
Other horses like Luna, Chesney, Rosebud, and Rosalind also found loving homes. New owners were guided through paperwork and quarantine recommendations, making each adoption a true celebration.

Exciting Adoptions and Happy Beginnings
Our team is thrilled for the July 26 to 30 adoption event. All adoption fees are waived, every horse is microchipped, vaccinated, and Coggins-tested, and the first 50 approved applications will receive scheduled appointments. With 10 appointments per day, up to 20 horses could find loving homes each day, making it one of our biggest adoption weeks of the year.

When Storms Roll In
A sudden storm flooded fields and soaked the tack room, but the team kept going. Rescue work does not stop for a little rain, and everyone pitched in with determination and laughter.

Every Horse, Every Second Chance
