A Cold and Heartbreaking Morning
On a freezing winter morning, Horse Plus Humane Society embarked on a remarkable rescue mission, saving 22 horses from dire situations. With temperatures below 30°, our dedicated team worked tirelessly at the auction, where horses often fall victim to neglect, abuse, and the slaughter pipeline.
Finding Horses in Desperate Conditions
The day was filled with emotional moments—rescuing horses in heartbreaking conditions, including a Tennessee Walking Horse with a mutilated tail, a Thoroughbred caught in the horrors of feed lots, and a fragile donkey orphaned and emaciated. We provided vital care, from veterinary exams and microchip scans to humane euthanasia for horses suffering from severe arthritis and injuries.
Every Horse Deserves a Second Chance
Thanks to your generous support, these horses are now safe at our shelter, beginning their journey to recovery and new lives.
Several will be transferred to partner organizations for long-term rehabilitation and adoption.
Each rescue highlights the ongoing need for awareness and action to stop the cruelty and give these noble creatures a second chance.
