A Snowy Adoption & a Fresh Start
The day begins with flurries falling as the team heads out for an early adoption appointment. One special mare, Elektra, who arrived months ago underweight and ribby, has come a long way. Thanks to consistent care and patience, she is healthier, calmer and ready for a new chapter. The result is a happy adoption, complete with paperwork, medical records and a promise to send updates. These are the moments that make the cold worthwhile.
Chores Don’t Stop for Winter
With temperatures dropping, feeding and watering become a little more hands-on, breaking ice from troughs, warming bits and making sure every horse gets breakfast. From seniors to quarantine residents, the entire herd is cared for despite the snow and ice. It is a full-team effort, with staff stepping in wherever needed to make sure no horse is missed.
Meet Luna: Sensitive, Sweet & Searching for Home
Luna, a 10-year-old Arabian mare, came to Horse Plus as an owner surrender after years without consistent training. Naturally sensitive and gentle, Luna has been making steady progress through groundwork, obstacles, and light saddling. She is the kind of horse who thrives with patience and understanding and she is looking for the right person to continue her journey toward becoming a wonderful trail companion.
Caring Hands and Generous Hearts
From geldings to checkups and treatment plans, the shelter’s veterinary work continues nonstop. Horses are monitored closely, treated as needed, and given the time and care required to heal properly, because every detail matters when it comes to their well-being.
Giving Tuesday brought an incredible wave of generosity, with donations matched dollar-for-dollar and supporters tuning in from around the world. Fundraising, packing shop orders, and answering emails all play a crucial role in keeping rescue efforts moving forward. Every donation and purchase directly supports feeding, medical care and second chances.
Ending the Days the Best Way
As the sun sets, it’s time to tuck everyone in, especially baby Benjamin. In one of the episode’s sweetest moments, he calmly walks into his stall all by himself, proving once again why he’s such a fan favorite. Potty-trained and proud.
