Horse Shelter Heroes – Episode 51 – Homes for the Holiday’s Adoption Event
This holiday season, Horse Plus Humane Society made wishes come true for both horses and humans. Their annual Homes for the Holidays adoption event and toy drive brought together families, volunteers and supporters for a weekend full of excitement, joy and second chances. Ten lucky horses found their forever homes and dozens of local children received gifts, making this holiday season truly unforgettable.
Ten Horses, Forever Homes
Over the course of the event, ten amazing horses found loving families, including Mercy, Denali, Buddy, Toby, Pirate, and Felicity. Many adopters were returning supporters, creating perfect matches for both horse and human.
A Global Outpouring of Holiday Cheer
The toy drive was a huge success, delivering 54 gifts to local children. Generous donations came from near and far, including Germany and Australia, bringing smiles to kids who might not otherwise have a merry Christmas.
Behind the Scenes: Health and Care
The episode offered a glimpse of the dedication to horse care at Horse Plus. From veterinary checkups to rehabilitation, the team ensures every horse is healthy, happy and ready for their new home. Horses like Comet, a former racehorse rescued from the slaughter pipeline, received critical care and a second chance at life.
A Record-Breaking Year
2020 saw nearly 400 horses rescued thanks to the support of donors, adopters, and volunteers. The Homes for the Holidays event was a shining example of what community, compassion, and hard work can achieve.
Looking Ahead to 2021
