A High-Tech Miracle for the Team
We have to start with some incredible news! After our essential radiograph (X-ray) tablet died last week, a company called Sound stepped up in the most amazing way. They voted unanimously to gift us a free replacement tablet, a piece of equipment worth thousands of dollars.
This means our veterinary team, Dr. Gina and Dr. Lydia, can finally get back to clear-cut diagnostics. With over 20 horses backed up on X-rays from our last buyout, this gift literally saves lives by helping us clear animals for adoption and identify those in pain.
We are beyond moved by the generosity of Sound, whose incredible gift ensures our veterinary team has the vital tools they need to continue their life-saving work without missing a beat!
The “Plus” in Horse Plus
Ever wonder what the “Plus” in our name stands for? This week, it was for a sweet female box turtle found in a dumpster! We’re making sure she gets all the fresh greens and fruits she needs before we coordinate with a wildlife rehabilitator.
Pro-tip for turtle lovers! Box turtles usually stay within a one-mile radius of their home. If you find one near a road, move it to the side it was heading toward, but don’t take it far away! They will often stop eating and wander aimlessly trying to find their way back home.
The Adoption Bell was Ringing!
We had a fantastic week for adoptions! The bell was ringing non-stop as some special animals found their forever families.
Mystic and Dane found a home together with a wonderful adopter who has followed our mission on YouTube for years.
Snowball the kitten is off to start his life in a cozy home!
Saoirse is heading all the way to Wisconsin where she’ll be pampered by a crew of excited grandkids!
Hueghey, our sweet Thoroughbred with a hoof condition, found a family that understands his need for specialized farrier care!
CC and Ramo… these sibling pups are reunited and heading home together!
Every adoption means another life changed and another space opened for an animal still waiting for help!
Medical Updates: Dolly and Guinness
Our medical team has been working overtime. Baby Dolly’s joint culture came back negative for bacteria, great news! While she’s not entirely “out of the woods,” her swelling is down and she’s trending in the right direction.
We also treated Guinness, a very young yearling who was found “down” in quarantine. He has a significant heart murmur and his bloodwork shows signs of exhaustion and dehydration. We’re keeping a very close eye on him and giving him the supportive care he needs to thrive.
