From surgical breakthroughs to a massive new arrival of 21 animals, our team has been running on coffee, passion, and plenty of hay.

Intakes, Castrations & Tough Goodbyes
This week, we took in 20 horses and a donkey intercepted from the slaughter pipeline. Our veterinary and medical teams worked tirelessly to perform necessary procedures including castrations and hoof care, ensuring these animals are ready for their new beginnings.
While many of the incoming equines are on the road to recovery, it is not always easy. We had to make the difficult and compassionate decision to say goodbye to a lovely mare suffering from multiple severe comorbidities and irreversible injuries.
Her story highlights exactly why we must advocate for federal legislation like the Safe Act to end the slaughter pipeline.
A New Tractor for the Farm
Our old Kubota tractor finally gave out but our incredible community stepped up to fill the gap. A massive thank you to Massey Ferguson for providing a generous discount and to our dedicated donors for funding the rest!
The new tractor is a manual triple-stick shift and our team is already excited about its improved lifting capabilities. Learning the ropes might take a little practice, but it will be a game changer for our daily operations!
Healing Journeys: Chip & Kalahari
We love seeing our rescue animals heal and thrive. Here is a quick update on some of our residents!
Chip is recovering beautifully from a severe wound on his withers. Thanks to a medicated bath and photobiomodulation treatments, his wound is closing up nicely and he is gaining weight.
Our team successfully performed a standing debridement procedure to remove excessive granulation tissue (proud flesh) from Kalahari’s leg. While he was groggy from the sedative, we also floated his teeth to ensure his mouth is healthy.
Preparing for the Future
To make room for our next buyout group, we are expanding our facility with a new soft quarantine pasture. Our team has been busy tracking down panels, clearing out pens and ensuring that every horse has a safe, comfortable space to decompress.
We are also excited to receive new furniture for our education center, courtesy of our wonderful donor Leslie, just in time for Amazon Prime Day!
The Best Part: New Beginnings
In the middle of it all, there were happy endings.
An adopter came looking for one horse… and left with two! Fancy and Sprite both found a home, beginning a new chapter filled with care, patience, and love.
These are the moments that make everything worth it.
