New Tech, Happier Smiles
Thanks to a generous donor, we’ve debuted our “Magical” Dental Speculum! This high-tech tool is a game-changer for the horses’ comfort. Our sweet 19-year-old gaited mare, Lily, was one of the first to benefit.
Dr. Gina and the team discovered she was missing a few teeth and had some sharp points causing discomfort.
After a little “spa day” with the dental float and some hawk injections for her arthritis, Lily is feeling like a new woman!
We’re hopeful she’ll find her forever home very soon.
A Pig’s Incredible Journey Home
One of the most unforgettable stories of the episode involved a missing pig!
Months earlier, someone arrived intending to surrender the pig, only to discover she had somehow disappeared from the trailer during transport. After extensive searching, nobody could find her.
Then weeks later, the pig amazingly showed back up at the owner’s home after somehow making the journey back on her own. This time, she safely arrived at Horse Plus where she settled into her stall while waiting for her adopter.
Medical Updates & Success Stories
Dino & Cowboy Reunited! Dino’s wounds have healed beautifully, and he’s officially back out in the pasture with his best bud, Cowboy.
He’s a little grumpy about his diet, but his health comes first!
Endeavor’s Big Step! After losing an eye due to trauma, Endeavor is finally healed and had his first riding evaluation. He’s a brave boy who just needs a little more training to reach his full potential.
Dustin’s Healing Journey! Dustin is making incredible strides with his hydrotherapy. He’s such a gentleman during his treatments as no sedation needed, just lots of snacks and love!
Volunteer Power & Education
Our “Rockstar” volunteers, Ann and Michelle, helped us deep-clean the new Educational Center. We are getting so close to opening this space!
Both of them shared how long they had followed Horse Plus and how meaningful it was to finally help in person. Their dedication made a huge impact and our team is so thankful for them bringing energy and motivation to the project!
Meanwhile, the training barn got a massive scrub-down and we’ve upgraded our catch-pen panels to keep our more “athletic” residents from trying to jump the fence.
Standing Tall in Shelbyville
To wrap up our first-ever Horse Plus Retreat, members of the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network headed to Shelbyville, TN. We stood together to protest the “Big Lick” and voice our support for the USDA ruling to end the use of stacks and chains.
We believe horses should be celebrated for their natural gait and beauty, not artificial movements caused by pain. It was a powerful way to end a week of advocacy and collaboration.
Every rescue, medical treatment, rehabilitation project and protest for horses is made possible because of supporters who care.
