Saving Wally

Wally, an older cat receiving a detailed medical workup. The veterinary team discovered concerning kidney and liver changes along with painful complications from a previous declaw surgery.

Using X-rays and ultrasounds, the team’s focus is now on crafting a specialized pain management plan that keeps his kidneys and liver safe, ensuring this affectionate boy stays entirely comfortable.

Training Nakoma & Rechecking Couture

Up in the training arena, our gentlers have been working miracles. Trainer Alan demonstrated the gentle art of introducing a rope to his newest rescue horse, emphasizing that training is all about listening to what a horse feels, sees, and hears.

We also shined a spotlight on Nakoma, our “Pretty Boy” with the absolute best mane on the property! He is short, stocky and full of personality.

Having transitioned beautifully from a stallion to a gelding, he gets along famously with other horses and is officially ready for an adopter with a little patience and a lot of love.

Meanwhile, sweet Couture got a health recheck. This young mare arrived terrified of human touch after being rescued from a reservation. Thanks to her trainers, she stood calmly for a full ocular and physical exam.

Couture passed with flying colors! Her previous eye ulcer is completely resolved and she is officially staying in our training and adoption programs.

A Comprehensive Checkup for Gray

Resident horse Gray underwent an extensive annual exam that revealed significant dental concerns. After X-rays and evaluations, the veterinary team discovered multiple compromised teeth that may be causing pain and contributing to his weight loss.

The team carefully discussed treatment options, pain management and possible long term dental disease while working together to make the best decision for Gray’s comfort and future care.

Duke Gets Ready for a Fresh Start

Duke, a young mixed breed dog, was neutered in hopes of preparing him for a future home through another shelter partner. The veterinary team monitored him closely through surgery and recovery while making sure he stayed safe and comfortable.

Meet the New Faces Behind Horse Plus

We also introduced our two newer team members, Liz and Micah, who shared their backgrounds and what inspired them to join Horse Plus Humane Society. From social media storytelling to video production, both are helping bring rescue stories to life and connect supporters to the mission in meaningful ways.

From medical mysteries to happy endings, this episode was another reminder that rescue is never just about saving animals. It is about teamwork, compassion, and giving every animal the chance for a better future.
