Blind Alpaca Needs Help

This blind alpaca was rescued from the slaughter pipeline on March 24, 2026. Can you imagine the absolute horror of not only being crammed into a livestock trailer full of manure and trash, forced to ride for hours or days without food or water? That is what this sweet Alpaca endured. After his rescue he was named Leo by our Facebook fans. Horse Plus Humane Society works tirelessly to rescue, shelter and protect not only horses, but other animals just like this poor blind alpaca, who was dumped into the slaughter pipeline with no care for his future by his heartless owner. As the only horse shelter in the U.S with 2 full-time veterinarians, we're committed to the well-being of our rescued animals. These horses often require significant medical and farrier care due to past neglect. 95% of our incoming horses benefit from this critical attention. Our monthly investment in their healthcare and farrier work averages around $20,000, illustrating our dedication to their recovery and health.
