Amazon - Stop Selling Slaughtered Donkeys
Right now, across the world, donkeys are being stolen from the very families who depend on them to survive. These aren’t just animals, they are lifelines. They haul water for daily living, help farmers work the land, and support entire communities. When they are stolen, families are left devastated and struggling to survive.
Why is this happening? Because of the ejiao trade. Ejiao is the collagen made by boiling donkey hides, and right now, Amazon is selling products that contain it. Ejiao is used in traditional Chinese medicine, and demand for it has strongly surged over the last decade.
Donkeys caught in the ejiao trade endure unimaginable suffering. Many are stolen, ripped away from their homes or rounded up from the wild. They are then transported for days, often without food or water, before facing horrific slaughter in facilities outside the U.S. These operations are not USDA inspected, and ejiao itself is not approved or regulated by the FDA.
This is a global crisis, and it’s being fueled by demand.
🛑 We must act NOW. 🛑
We demand that Amazon:
👉 Immediately stop selling ejiao products
👉 Remove all listings containing donkey-derived ingredients

I, the undersigned, hereby demand that Amazon immediately cease selling, and offering for sale, any and all products containing ejiao. Ejiao is a product used in traditional Chinese medicine by boiling the hide of donkeys, which extracts the collagen. The donkeys used for ejiao suffer tremendously in the slaughter pipeline, often stolen from their loving families or from being livestock guardians, or rounded up from the wild lands of America, before they endure a long trip of multiple days, often without food or water, across the border to slaughter houses in Mexico or Canada. No donkeys slaughtered for ejiao are slaughtered at USDA inspected slaughter plants, nor is ejiao approved or regulated by the FDA.
As ejiao is inherently only produced on the back of animal cruelty, and as ejiao is not regulated by federal oversight, I insist and demand that Amazon cease carrying all ejiao products and all donkey hide products immediately.
