24 horses that we rescued from the auction!

We just finished up the intake process for all 24 horses that we rescued from the auction last night. Thank you so much for your support that made this auction rescue possible! We were able to rescue another horse this morning at the auction so in total, we were able to save 24 out of the slaughter pipeline. All of these horses are precious and we’re so grateful to you that we were able to save them.

After arriving at our shelter doc exam in the horses and sadly, some of the horses were in such critical condition that the Last Act of Kindness was the kindest option for them… One pony’s hooves were in such horrible shape that she had no coffin bone. With every step she took, you could see she was in a lot of pain. Another horse who we took x-rays on could barely walk. What the x-rays showed just broke our hearts. Shattered bones scattered around inside her lower back leg. She was in immense pain and we knew that the Last Act of Kindness was the best decision for her. While some had to be humanely euthanized by our veterinarian due to chronic suffering, many are healthy and we can’t wait to get them to the ultimate goal of adoption! The horses are all munching on their hay and relaxing in their paddocks now, thanks to you. None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our donors!
