Payton Christian is an actress and assistant director, known for I’m Not Ashamed (2016), To Be a Soldier (2018), Rumors of Wars (2014) and about 20 other movies. Payton is one of our volunteers and goes with us on many rescue missions.
Payton knows the heartbreak of seeing what horses go through in the slaughter pipeline. The horses seen below are horses that Payton helped us rescue from slaughter auctions and then she adopted them from us. Thank you Payton for being an amazing advocate for horses!
A message from actress Payton Christian: Have you ever seen what love can do? These horses were found at a sale where kill buyers don’t see a loving creature, they see dollar signs. They are most interested in the fat ones they can ship straight to the slaughterhouse, yes the slaughterhouse.
Some of the skinny ones they ship to a feedlot, to fatten up, so they bring a higher dollar amount. Then there are those that they “dump” from one sale to the next, because they know they will more than likely not make the trip and will only be able to be sold as a carcass to a pig farmer. These beautiful creatures are lovable and deserve a second chance.
Horse Plus Humane Society gives them that second chance with the help of donations. Do you know we have rescued horses for $20, $10 even $5 at these auctions. We have them seen by a vet, a farrier and then start the long process of returning them to the magnificent horse they were meant to be. Then we find them homes with loving families. I know with it being Winter and not even a month after Christmas, money is short, but I’m asking please if you can give even $5 to help save a horse from tomorrow’s sale, would mean so much.
