Horse Shelter Heroes: Episode 8 – February 20-26

A Scary Accident Shakes the Team

Early in the week, our team was shaken when Travis, who joined us earlier this year, was seriously injured while working with a horse. In a split second, he was run over and kicked, and emergency responders made the call to life-flight him to the hospital.
We’re incredibly grateful to share that although the accident was terrifying, his injuries weren’t as severe as they could have been. Travis is recovering, improving every day, and remains in our thoughts constantly. His absence has been felt deeply, but the team has rallied together, taking on his tasks and supporting one another through the worry and the long days.
Please keep Travis in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to heal.
Adoptions, Paperwork, and Making New Beginnings Easy

Even during difficult weeks, the work doesn’t stop. One highlight was guiding an adopter through her new horse’s paperwork, microchip info, vet records, Coggins, and all the details that help ensure a safe, secure transition into her new home. Every packet of documents represents a second chance, and those moments keep us going.

Sweet Surprises Brighten the Days

Kindness showed up in unexpected places this week, too. A supporter surprised the team with a fresh bouquet of flowers, filling the office with color and a soft, sweet scent. It was a simple gift, but in a heavy week, it meant the world

Dental Care & Daily Horse Health

The horses continued receiving the care they needed—this week included dental floats to keep everyone’s mouths comfortable and their eating habits healthy. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s essential to their wellbeing.
New Gear in the Horse Plus Gift Shop

And on a fun note, our gift shop just got an exciting update! We’ve stocked new hats and other items to help raise funds for future rescues. These goodies are available both onsite and through our Facebook store, making it easy for supporters everywhere to help save more horses.

Ending on a Lighthearted Roll

Of course, no week at the shelter is complete without at least one muddy, goofy horse caught mid-roll—and this week, Nikki took the spotlight. A little dirt never hurt anybody!
