Horse Shelter Heroes – S3E11

This episode of Horse Shelter Heroes takes us inside one of our busiest and most joyful weeks yet: an adoption event filled with second chances, fresh starts and a whole lot of heart. From early mornings to long days in the barn, the Horse Plus team worked nonstop to match horses, ponies, mules, donkeys and even cats with the right homes.

Meet the Horses Finding Their People

Throughout the week, adopters arrived from across the region, each hoping to find a new equine partner.

Horses like Cornelius, Sundance, Mary Legs, Mighty, Clover, Daffodil, Maxwell, Willow, Rose, Hemi and many others were evaluated, handled and thoughtfully matched based on personality, training level and adopter goals.

Some adopters were looking for trail partners, others for kids’ horses, pasture pets, or lifelong companions. Every adoption included honest conversations about health, weight gain, training needs and long term care.
The result was happy send offs, adoption photos and trailers leaving full!
Rescue Work Never Stops

While adoptions were happening up front, rescue and rehab continued behind the scenes. New auction horses arrived needing antibiotics, quarantine care and veterinary evaluations.

Farrier days focused on severely overgrown hooves, abscesses, founder concerns and gentle handling for horses still learning to trust people.
Draft stocks were added to make hoof care safer for horses and humans alike, and the team carefully adjusted plans for pregnant mares, senior horses and those needing extra time before handling.
Big Changes Within the Team

This episode also shared an important internal update. Cory stepped down as shelter foreman to move into a trainer role, allowing him to focus more on horse training and family while ensuring professional boundaries were respected.
As always in rescue, change is constant, but the mission remains steady.
More Than Just Horses

Adoptions were not limited to equines. Several barn cats also found homes, including a shy little guy who needed patience and kindness.
Whether four hooves, two hooves, or four paws, every life mattered.

Powered by Support

From donors sending apples to adopters choosing adoption over purchase, this week was a reminder that rescue is a community effort. Every donation, share and adoption helps horses move from uncertainty to safety.
Riding the Wave Forward

By the end of the episode, dozens of animals were on their way to new lives, others were well into rehab and the team was already preparing for what comes next. It was exhausting, emotional and absolutely worth it!
This is Horse Shelter Heroes. Real rescue, real people and real happily ever afters in the making.
