Legend & Dual Peppy Checks Finds Forever Family

We kicked off the week with some incredible news. Adopters drove a whopping nine and a half hours all the way from Michigan just to meet Legend! Trainer Payton, who spent weeks building Legend’s confidence, was emotional as she watched him leave. Seeing him calmly load into the trailer and confidently perform under saddle showed just how far he had come.
It was a reminder that patience, consistency and trust can completely transform a horse’s future!

But wait, the adoption wins didn’t stop there! Dual Peppy Checks also found his forever home with the wonderful folks at Wolf Creek Ranch. After a few previous adoption appointments fell through, it felt like pure fate when their son, Austin, fell in love with him while practicing his farrier work.
Talk about a perfect match!
Whiskey’s Road to Recovery

Veterinary staff examined Whiskey, a young paint stallion rescued from an alleged cruelty case involving inbreeding. Despite his adorable personality, Whiskey arrived with several serious medical concerns, including a reducible hernia, a damaged baby tooth, a leg wound, respiratory concerns, and undescended testicles.
His care plan includes bloodwork, surgery to repair the hernia, treatment for his wound, dental work, and continued monitoring. While his recovery will take time, the team is committed to giving him every opportunity for a healthy future.
A Heartbreaking Goodbye to June

Living the rescue life means facing the darkest shadows alongside the sunshine. This week, we had to make the devastating decision to say goodbye to June, a sweet mare in her mid-20s rescued from a recent buyout.
Despite receiving pain management and time to recover, ongoing examinations confirmed severe spinal pain and advanced kissing spine lesions. After a lifetime of serving people, June was finally shown the compassion she deserved. The team made the difficult but loving decision to let her pass peacefully, sparing her from continued suffering.
Farewell & Welcome

The episode also marked a bittersweet milestone as we said goodbye to our wonderful receptionist, Mari, who is heading off to college! We are incredibly grateful for Mari’s hardwork, dedication and the bright energy she brought to the shelter every single day…. she will be deeply missed by humans and horses alike!Â
While saying goodbye is never easy, the team is thrilled to welcome Anna as our new receptionist! Anna is looking forward to diving right in, meeting our amazing community, and continuing to serve both our dedicated supporters and the animals we love.
