Starting in Quarantine: Healing Begins Here

The week kicks off in quarantine after several horses were rescued from auction. The team gets straight to work with vaccines, Coggins testing, deworming, dental exams, radiographs and hands-on evaluations.
Every horse is treated as an individual, from calm mules to nervous auction horses who are still learning to trust people.

A veterinary student joins the team, gaining real world experience while helping assess eyes, lungs, joints, teeth and overall soundness.
Some horses surprise everyone with better than expected health. Others reveal chronic issues that explain years of discomfort. Either way, each horse finally gets answers and a plan.
Teamwork That Saves Lives

This episode also highlights the power of collaboration. Shelter transfers with Christian Farms Rescue help more horses move toward adoption faster. Adopters find their perfect matches. Supporters donate food, supplies and encouragement. Every role matters.

Garrick Is Back

Garrick is back and he’s got his favorite drink with him! A familiar face returns to the action, bringing experience, humor and a much needed boost of energy to a long and demanding rescue day.
Moments like these remind us that even in the toughest work, connection and teamwork keep everyone going, two legged and four legged alike!
Rescue in Real Time: Auction Night

As the crew heads to the Cookeville auction, they encounter over 100 horses, many in urgent need of help. By the end of the night, 21 horses are rescued!

Among them are emaciated mares, injured ponies, minis with severe limb issues, horses with eye injuries, dental abscesses, sunburn, dehydration and chronic pain. Pain management begins immediately. Fluids, electrolytes, hay and reassurance are given on the spot.
When Pain Has a Name and So Does Kindness

Not every story has a happy ending, but every horse is treated with dignity. One mare arrives at the auction in unbearable pain, unable to stand comfortably.
The team makes the hardest yet kindest choice, offering her relief and peace rather than forcing her to endure another trailer ride. She is named Rota, meaning broken and remembered with love.
Moments like these remind us that rescue is not only about saving lives. It is also about ending suffering when there is no humane path forward.
Why This Work Matters

This was a tough rescue with a higher than usual number of critical cases. But because of this team and this community, horses were removed from the slaughter pipeline, given medical care, comfort and a chance at a better future.
Some found homes. Some found healing. And some found peace.
