Tending to Horses Big and Small
The episode opens with our team feeding round bales, tending to grain and giving special care to horses like Patricia, Brandi, and Sugar, a 17-year-old wild mare getting her first steps toward trust and handling. Despite the hustle, our team makes time for the little things, like scrubbing buckets and giving attention to every animal.
Acts of Kindness in Sad Moments
Not every story has a happy ending. One donkey’s severe neglect meant her coffin bones had dissolved, leaving her in extreme pain. The team gave her the last act of kindness, an end to suffering, reminding us that rescue is not always about saving lives but also about giving dignity and care.
Happy Endings and New Homes
There is plenty of good news as well. Banner, once a skittish rescue, has blossomed under our care and found his forever home. Sarge also left for a new life with his adopters. Diego, a sweet blind Appaloosa, continues to receive specialized care and many other animals, including kittens and recently surrendered horses, are receiving love and treatment.
Expanding Our Shelter for the Future
The shelter is growing. Panels for improved fencing and a brand-new treatment facility are being installed to expand our intensive care capabilities. This new space will allow us to perform surgeries, x-rays and provide specialized treatment for horses in need, especially during winter months.
