We are at the auction right now! We are so close to our goal of saving 20 horses, we currently have enough funds to rescue 17 – won’t you help us save 3 more? It costs about $1,000 to rescue and shelter a horse at the auction from the slaughter pipeline, giving each horse the love, compassion, veterinarian care, deworming, microchipping, vaccinations, training, and sheltering they need as they transition to their new lives. There are so many horses here with such hopeless looks on their faces, faces full of fear and devastation.
Some of the horses have injuries. This horse is very fearful, but wants so badly to be friends and wants someone to love him. Will you donate just $1 to help us save this horse?
There are also a few babies at this auction that will be sold to the highest bidder tonight. They are so young.
Many times foals will be separated from their moms because baby horses this young don’t have a meat price. Their moms do, and kill buyers don’t ship the babies, but ship the moms, leaving the foals as orphans at a feedlot. It’s horrible. There are many babies that die at feedlots as their moms are shipped to slaughter. We will be bidding on these mares and babies up to slaughter price. If we see that a private buyer is wanting them we will stop, but we do not want these poor mares and their babies to be slaughter industry statistics.
Tonight is going to be very busy, and I probably won’t be able to send out another update before the auction is over. I’m counting on you, we can save and shelter 20 horses tonight with your help.
