Healing in Progress & Small Wins
The episode opens with medical updates and hands-on care. Halo, a horse recovering from a severe facial wound, shows incredible healing progress thanks to diligent treatment, including Manuka honey and advanced wound care techniques.
Her recovery is a reminder that time, patience and proper care can change everything.
Throughout the day, the team intakes new horses from auction, carefully evaluating each one, providing deworming, electrolytes, probiotics and much-needed kindness.
Every horse is handled at their pace, especially those with trauma responses from past injuries.
When Trauma Runs Deep
Not every intake is simple. One horse reacts strongly once confined, revealing old fractures and deep-rooted fear likely caused by past trauma.
The veterinary team carefully evaluates him, documenting injuries and doing everything possible to keep both the horse and staff safe. This is shelter medicine at its most complex, where compassion must be balanced with safety and realism.
The Hardest Part of the Job
This episode does not shy away from the most difficult responsibility Horse Plus carries. Several horses are given the last act of kindness due to severe medical issues, advanced age, or dangerous aggression that posed a serious risk to human safety.

Building for a Better Future
Even on emotionally heavy days, progress continues. Viewers get a look at the nearly finished veterinary barn, complete with surgical space, climate control, and new stalls. This facility will allow Horse Plus to provide even better care for future rescues.
Spring and summer cleanup projects are also underway, improving barns, fencing, and storage areas so the shelter can continue operating efficiently.
New Lives Arrive While Others Begin Again
Rescue never slows down. A mama dog and her eight puppies arrive as an owner surrender, immediately welcomed and cared for. Horses undergo radiographs, hoof evaluations and training assessments to determine the best path forward for their health and future placement.
Some horses are placed on rest and rehab plans. Others are cleared for adoption and begin meeting potential families.
Happy Endings That Make It Worth It
Amid the heavy moments, joy shines through. Cosmo, a gentle horse with a striking black-and-white tail, finds his forever home.
Hera, a nervous but beautiful mare, is adopted by a family willing to take things slow and earn her trust.
These adoptions are why the work continues. Each one represents a life changed forever.
When Neglect Requires Intervention
The episode closes with a law enforcement assisted surrender of neglected horses. The situation is heartbreaking, but it ends with the horses safely loaded and on their way to the shelter.
Horse Plus emphasizes an important message. Adoption and ownership are serious responsibilities. If help is needed, ask. Waiting too long only causes suffering.
