Parcey’s Story: Back in November a 2009, Jason and Tawnee were at a livestock auction in Petaluma California when a helpless little day old calf entered the ring. He was a little orphan calf that nobody wanted, his price went lower and lower and when it hit $5 Tawnee raised her hand and won the bid.
He was too sickly for the veal bidders to want him, usually day old calves go to veal farms where they live a short life trapped in a tiny wooden crate until they are butchered for their pale and soft meat. She didn’t know if he was going to make it, but she gave him all the love and care she could, and he thrived. Parcey became a permanent resident of Horse Plus Humane Society and helped raise money for our organization at events and helped raise awareness about how beautiful and intelligent cows are.
When Parcey was old enough our horse trainer trained him how to ride. He enjoyed going on trail rides but preferred to ride in parades and events where he could get lots of attention from people. Parcey loved people! When our organization moved to Tennessee Parcey moved as well and thoroughly loved the green grass of Tennessee. Parcey’s favorite person was Tawnee, she could call his name out at any time and anywhere, he would always stop what he was doing, look up and was always so happy to see her. Parcey would also do anything for Tawnee.
He was known to have a stubborn streak with other people but Tawnee would come along and he would do anything she asked. This morning, Tawnee found Parcey down and he was unable to get up and with every breath he took he moaned. Our veterinarian was called and Tawnee did not leave his side, she scratched him in all his favorite places and tried to make him as comfortable as possible until the veterinarian arrived.
Our veterinarian examined him and sadly there was nothing that could be done other than to say goodbye ??? Parcey will always be remembered and will be greatly missed. These are some of the photos of Parcey over the years. RIP Parcey. Donations may be made in Parcey’s memory.
