Beau’s Big Comeback
Remember Beau, our seasoned gentleman who’s been fighting his way back from illness and weight loss? In this episode, he steps onto the scale again, and the results made everyone cheer.
He’s climbed from 588 pounds to an impressive 640 pounds, a huge leap for a horse who once struggled to keep weight on after the flu. He’s brighter, stronger, and definitely more motivated… especially when there’s hay within reach!
Watching Beau push toward that stack of hay in the background might just be the sweetest sign that the old man’s spirit is fully coming back.
Wildlife Wanders Into the Barn
Spring showers brought more than just mud, they brought visitors.
Staff have spotted a snapping turtle, a box turtle about the same size, and even a wriggling nest of tadpoles just down the road. It’s rare to see this much wildlife activity so early in the season, and it’s a fun reminder of how closely our shelter connects with the natural world around us.
Grooming Day… Times Two
With the temperatures rising, some of our fuzzy residents are shedding mountains of winter coat. And one little “shaking monster” is shedding more than most! After endless brushing sessions that produced enough hair to stuff a mattress, the team decided it was time for a full spring body clip.
The transformation is dramatic, and adorable. Not only does he look sleek and ready for warmer weather, but he also feels much more comfortable.
Then it was another mare’s turn. Covered in thick winter fluff, she stepped into her own makeover session. After a careful clipping, she emerged refreshed and radiant, ready to take on spring with style.
Fresh Starts All Around
From Beau’s weight-gain victory to the wildlife surprise to the satisfying grooming glow-ups, this episode is a celebration of renewal. Spring is a busy time at the shelter, but it’s also one of the most rewarding.
