A Joyful Goodbye for Amigo
There is nothing better than an adoption day. Amigo, adopted the week before, finally heads home with his family. Watching a once uncertain horse walk confidently into a new life never gets old.
Moments like this remind us why long days and hard work are so worthwhile!
Quarantine Chronicles & Critical Care
Up in quarantine, the team evaluates recently rescued horses and donkeys. One tiny donkey, covered in painful wounds, immediately steals hearts as he gets gentle treatment.
Another donkey faces a more serious case, a severe hoof infection requiring delicate, life-saving procedures. Every step is about giving these animals a fresh start, no matter how tough the journey inside their hooves.
Training with Patience
Reef, a July auction rescue, is working through saddle training. Sweet and willing on the ground, he showed some strong opinions about carrying a rider.
Instead of pushing him too fast, the training team focuses on slow, confidence building exercises. Fence work, leg pressure and repetition help him learn that new experiences are not something to fear.
At Horse Plus, progress is measured in trust, not speed!
Finding the Perfect Pasture Pal
An adoption appointment brings in a family searching for a companion horse. They are not looking for a show champion. They want a sweet, safe friend for their current rescue horse.
After meeting a few options, they fall in love with Ruger. Gentle, goofy, and full of personality, he checks every box. Watching him load up to head home is another beautiful reminder that sometimes the best matches are about heart, not perfection.
Farrier Day Realities
Farrier visits mean trims, teamwork and sometimes sedation. Horses like Pony Boy, Chicken Wing and Tulsa receive special care tailored to their needs.
Then there’s Theodore, only three and a half, but with severe hoof neglect. His overgrown, infected hooves are carefully trimmed, giving him a chance at comfort and a happy future.
It’s tough work, but it’s worth every second!
A Well Oiled Machine
By the end of the episode, the team reflects on just how much was accomplished. Horses evaluated. Donkeys treated. Hooves restored. One more adoption completed. Even with unexpected schedule changes and emergency calls, the staff worked like a well oiled machine.
It was a good day.
And for the horses and donkeys who now have comfort, care and hope, it was a life changing one!
