Growing Pains: The Education Center
Jason shared a candid update: the new Education Center won’t be finished in time for next week’s Full Circle of Life mentoring workshop.
While the project hit a snag, it was for a great reason. Jason decided to add a partial second story to house lighting and videography gear! It means using a backup venue for the upcoming workshop but the finished center is going to be a game-changer for our rescue training programs.
26 Tiny Lives in Need
The day took a sharp turn when we received a call for a surrender of 26 kittens. Shandra and the team jumped into action to bring them all in safely.
Most are healthy and energetic, though a few are being treated for “goopy eyes” in our medical wing.
Overcoming Tech Troubles
Right when it matters most, the website donation system crashes.
During Buy-Out week, that’s critical. Every donation can mean the difference between a horse being saved or lost to the slaughter pipeline. The team quickly jumps into action, troubleshooting and working with support to get everything back online.
It’s a stressful moment but one that shows just how much is riding on every detail.
Our vital radiograph tablet stopped working and we’re currently in a tough spot with the warranty company. Having this equipment is essential for helping horses at the auction, so we are working hard to get a replacement.
New Arrivals & Advocacy
We welcomed a sweet horse named Nova to the pasture today! His previous owner had him since 2020 and says he’s a total fan of kids.
But rescuing one horse at a time isn’t enough. Our team is doubling down on advocacy in Washington D.C. We aren’t just pulling horses from the slaughter pipeline, we are fighting for federal laws to shut that pipeline down for good.

Join us the first Wednesday of every month (9 AM – Noon). Be prepared to get messy with painting and cleaning, and maybe sneak in some pets with our mascots, Dino and Cowboy!
This Monday didn’t go as planned.
But lives were still saved.
Kittens found safety. Horses received care. Problems were solved. And the team kept moving forward, even when things felt overwhelming.
This is what rescue truly looks like.
Messy, exhausting, unpredictable… and absolutely worth it!
Every single effort adds up to something bigger.
