A Donor Visit to Remember

We recently had a very special visitor tour our facility, and the outcome was nothing short of a miracle! Our guest was so moved by our mission that she made a monumental donation to help our upcoming buyout.
She is funding the rescue of 20 horses from the next auction and has provided a $10,000 matching grant for a new ultrasound machine!

Our veterinarians, Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina, are over the moon! While our current equipment has served us well, a new ultrasound will allow us to see beyond the bone and into soft tissue, giving us the diagnostic power to save even more lives on-site.

We are overflowing with gratitude for this incredible act of kindness which will directly change the lives of dozens of animals in the coming weeks. A contribution like this doesn’t just provide equipment… it provides hope and a future for horses who had nowhere else to turn.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in our mission and becoming a true hero for the helpless!
Triumphs in the Vet Hospital

Our giant draft gelding, Mathias, has officially finished his antibiotics! After surgical treatment for a major leg wound, he’s been cleared to leave his hospital stall and move into the 10-acre pasture.

What was supposed to be a routine castration for Spanky turned into a complex surgery when the team discovered a body wall hernia. Thanks to the expert skills of our two-vet team, the hernia was repaired, and Spanky is recovering beautifully!

Jay, who recently had both eyes removed due to infection, is walking around with such confidence you would almost never know he’s blind.
New Faces & Big Moves
Change is in the air at Horse Plus Humane Society.

With a new shelter manager stepping into her role, the team is moving forward with fresh energy and big plans. That momentum showed immediately with an incredible donation of dog runs and panels, resources that will directly support both small and large animal care as the organization continues to grow.

We have officially started the demolition of our old block building to make way for a brand-new small animal shelter. Thanks to a gracious donation from the Bob Barker estate, this new facility will allow us to help thousands more dogs and cats!
Disaster Strikes: The Tennessee Tornadoes

The calm of our work week was shattered by a severe tornado warning. As sirens buzzed and the sky turned dark, we had to rush our staff home and hunker down. While our facility was thankfully spared, our neighbors in Columbia weren’t as lucky.

As soon as the sun rose, we hit the ground running. We found a nearby stable where a barn had collapsed and trailers were flipped like toys. In the middle of destruction, something remarkable stood out. Despite the damage, not a single horse was lost.
It was a true testament to the miracles we see every day in this line of work!
Neighbors Helping Neighbors

We spent the day transporting 23 horses from the storm-damaged property to a safe pasture. We also loaded up our trailers with hay to replace what the wind had swept away.
It was amazing to see volunteers come from everywhere to clear debris and lead horses to safety. Thanks to a donated satellite phone, we were able to coordinate our rescue efforts even when cell towers were down!

Times like these remind us that we are all in this together. Whether it’s donating to a matching grant or helping a neighbor pull a horse from the rubble, your support is what makes these miracles possible.
Thank you for standing with us!
