Due to a storm that is coming through Tennessee on Thursday the 45 horses will be arriving at our shelter tomorrow, this gives us even less time to fundraise for the remaining 11 horses that we do not have funds for yet. Today we worked on fundraising for these horses and worked on building the loading chute, so we will be able to unload them off the semi-truck at our shelter. It’s not completely done yet but will be in the morning.
Here’s what we know about these horses:
1: These horses are not at a feedlot, but if we do not save them, they will be shipped to slaughter because there’s no other option for them. If you do not know the story of these horses click this link: https://bit.ly/2pMOj6F
2: They are believed to be Florida Cracker Horses. We will not be able to confirm this until they are at our shelter. If you do not know what breed that is please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjmcCt-tH4g
3: There are mares with foals and also stallions that have been all running together. They are small horses, and since there are foals in the herd the trucking company says that is why they are able to haul 45 of them at one time.
4: Because the mares have been running with stallions, most of them are all pregnant.
5: We do not know if they are halter trained, but they are said to be friendly.
6: We have a few pictures of these horses in the pasture where they are currently being held. They look like really beautiful horses and most seem to be in good condition.
