A Vision Taking Shape

Exciting changes are underway as the team transforms their former riding arena into a dedicated education center. Thanks to support from the Bob Barker estate, this space will soon host training for animal control officers and mentoring programs for other organizations!

The goal is simple but powerful. Rescue as many animals as possible while also teaching others how to do the same. By sharing knowledge, the impact reaches far beyond one facility.
At the same time, additional projects like a small animal spay and neuter clinic are in progress, showing just how much the organization continues to grow.
Growth Means New Faces

We are growing! We are thrilled to introduce Shandra, our brand-new Shelter Manager. With a background in animal cruelty investigation and emergency rescue, she is a powerhouse addition to the team.
Her role will help strengthen daily operations while allowing leadership to focus on larger initiatives, outreach and national advocacy efforts.
It is a big step forward and one that reflects how far Horse Plus has come!
Cleopatra’s Journey

Cleopatra came to us through our buyout program with a severe, “putrid” infection on her hind leg. After a week of antibiotics and careful refeeding to boost her strength, she finally went under for surgical debridement.
Her procedure involved removing damaged tissue so healing could begin. It was a critical step and she handled it like a true fighter.
Watching her progress is a reminder of why this work matters. Even the most severe cases can turn around with the right care and time.
Rain, Shine or Tornadoes!

The weather tried to throw us a curveball with severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. Our amazing farrier braved the clouds to get six horses trimmed just before the storms hit.

Meanwhile, Keith was busy out in the pastures, moving sheds and installing “man-gates” to ensure our horses have the best shelter during the winter months.
The Heart of It All: Community

Our latest volunteer day was a total heart-warmer and a massive success! We were so touched to have helpers join us from as far away as Oregon, a huge shout-out to Connie for making the trip and we even welcomed our newest “junior employee,” Dawn’s adorable three-year-old granddaughter, Raylin!

From first-time visitors to long-time supporters, people showed up ready to work, clean and lend a hand. After all that hard work, we wrapped up the day by devouring a mountain of pizza. A giant thank you to Connie for providing such a delicious lunch and keeping our spirits high!
Moments like these matter. They remind everyone that this mission is shared and that behind every rescue is a community that cares deeply.
Why This Work Continues

Between construction projects, donor visits, rescue efforts and medical care, the days are full and often unpredictable.
But every improvement, every new team member and every life saved moves the mission forward.
If you believe in giving horses a second chance, your support makes all of this possible!
Help continue the work by donating or getting involved. Every effort helps build a better future for animals who need it most.
